Default Some Ideas Please!

Anyone got any good ideas for how to convince my husband to let me get a snake? I really want one, I've always loved them. I know this may sound trivial, but I'm really at a loss at how to convince him...

Snakes make the best pet imho. Thay dont need to be walked, no litterbox, no noise, no smell if you clean the tank, no dander for those with Allergies. Once at the mid range size level you can feed them a good sized meal and get one of those water dish's made for cats thet use gravety to auto top off the dish useing a 2L bottle and a timer for the lights then go on a 2 week vacation. when you get home it will still be there. My wife used to have a mouse problem untill i moved in with 3 snakes. havent seen one in 8 years unless i payed for it ...Corn snakes are good, thay stay small enough to handle with one hand and come in over 100 colors, Pure white (snow corn) to Lavender, even Clico.. hope this helps

i know a great idea on how to convince him. show him a pic of a Black eyed leuc, a coral glow BP or a black white Axanthic. of those 3 the B/W Axanthic BP is the most practical you can get a 100%het male for $150 or a 100%het pair for $1000 i think that may be my next snake purchase the 100%het male and let him meet my pretty little female =) id love to have either of the other 2 but ill have to wait a few years for the price to go down as of now the black eyed lucy is about 15K and the coral glow is sitting alot higher than that ive heard people saying as high as 50K give or take =) id have to say tho the easiest nicest and most fun to watch pet would have to be a BP even easier than lizards.... even a beardie! cause you still have to feed them everyday

Wow, that white one is GORGEOUS! I don't like the first one as much, but the second one is beautiful too. I'm working on him... His main complaint I think is feeding them mice and stuff. ooooo I just got him to say maybe! lol... We'll see I guess!

well as far as the feeding of them goes it isnt all that bad if you feed frozen mice its pretty simple not much to deal with you can even go to the pet store and get prekilled mice to feed once a week depending on how old your snake is i have a baby and a yearling BP the baby eats 2 hopper mice every 5 days and the yearling eats 2 adult mice every 7 days and as they get older the frequency of feeding goes down and feeder mice arent that expensive i think i pay about a dollar a piece for live mice i just fed them yesterday i got 4 hoppers 2 adults 40 small crickets 50 medium mealworms and 2 meal worm bowls and i think my total was like 11.00 but you also have to realize that is to feed 6 reptiles for a week.. lol 3 lizards and 3 snakes you may also wanna let him know that with the dragon when he gets bigger and older it is recommended to feed them a fuzzy or hopper once a week to get them the nutrients they need.. just a little more ammo for you =) if you have any more question feel free to ask

oh and as far as the pics of the snakes go the first one was the coral glow which is one of my favs cause when actaully seeing them they are lavender and orange their colors are more vivid in person, the second one is the BW axanthic the more easilly obtained of the 3 and then the white one is the Black eyed lucy my absolutely favorite BP i think they are absolutely beautiful and i love the black eyes with the red pupils but they are very expensive too there are alot of options out there when it comes to BP's and more are coming out all the time and the prices for them range everywhere from 30.00-30k and up just depending on the rarity and how new the morph is i would recommend a king or cornsnake cause they have some pretty ones too but they arent a very interesting snake mine is extremely reclusive and spends most of his time hiding under his water bowl

yup, I know all that, and I think he does too, but maybe he just doesn't realize it. Where are you getting your feeders so cheap? I pay around 6 dollars a week for 50 crickets, and I'd say 10-15 of them die (If I get them from the other pet store, they don't die of like this, but they are too big). The dragon eats between 5 and 9 crickets a day (I want to get him eating a more diverse diet, but I can't really get him to eat anything else... I feed the crickets really good stuff though.) My frogs eat 2-3 crickets every two or three days (my banana frog eats more because he is so much bigger than the other guys. I try to feed him large crickets, but I can't always get both). The newt eats a worm every few days, but I can't get her to eat lately. Sometimes I feed her mealworms, but she has been exclusively aquatic for a couple of months now, and wont come out to eat any. The with the cats and the dog (who HAS to have food with NO corn because she has a propensity towards bladder stones) and the bird and the fish, I bet we spend around 65-75 dollars a month on pet food. That doesn't include what I spend to feed the crickets! Jeez, this crap is expensive, lol... Got to start breeding those crickets soon!!!

I always wanted exotic pets when I was a kid, I'm so glad now that I'm an adult I can choose to have them! I've been dreaming for the past few weeks of becoming an exotic vet and breeder and open my own pet store/vet office... That would just be soooooooo cool I really need to figure out what I want to go to school for, lol... I figure I should get started learning about the animals now, and what better way than to keep them? That's for the ideas to convince him... I think it helped a little. I should be able to wear him down in a year or so... Or maybe I'll just go buy one and then tell him I can't take it back, lol...
