Rough Greens are a terrific snake, But do your homework! It's very hard to aclimate a wild caught individual.

And in doing so you would need a very large enclosure. Plus I suggest treating the snake for parasties prior of housing in the terrariaum.

Finding a CB Rough Green is next to impossible. In fact I have yet to see one.
Mine is CH - (Captive Hatched). And if you do read my post you'll know the Female I aquired that laid the eggs did not fair well in the end.

I suggest Rough Greens for the more experinced snake keepers and maybe for the more experienced vive buileders as well.

I like What bkdog suggested... The Hognose, They are beautiful snakes with great coloring!

And what better than to set up a really cool Savanah type Vive for this species!

But warning, Hognose are venomous but are rear fanged. So there is little to no chance of being envenomated. (Sorry about the Spelling lol)

Man, I must have missed something. When did they decide Hognose snakes are poisonous? I used to catch them all the time but I could never even make one strike at me much less bite me!

I would not keep a Rough Greensnake. I believe the wild populations are suffering from pesticide overuse and there are just too many other captive breed species which would work better. Why not a Ball Python? Great little snakes and long lived.

Yeah from what I've heard Hognose's are venomous but, Rear Fanged. In fact that is the reason you can't own one here in Illinois.
Doesn't mean I don't want one! LOL

Yeah Balls are an awesome choice.

Well, now that I read my field manual I see that they were suspected to be poisonous. Never really thought about it. The Southern Hognose was the one that I believed was the nicest. They were easy in captivity if you had a good supply of toads. I could never get them to eat anything else.

I guess I had a small Ball Python. It was 22 years old and about 3' max.

I just got tired of packing plants and making nothing so I stopped.
