Well some sad news. I lost my Rough Green Snake the other day
These snakes are very delicate and in no way a beginer snake.
I dont think he ever fully recovered from the stress and chemicals of the mite treatment. And then he had some sheding complications on only his second shed sice I adopted him. He was not in the gratest Shape when I got him from Pet Co. A wild cought youngster that turned out to be infested with hundreds of mites. He stoped eating a shot time ago. I gave him some Wax worms and thought that solved my problem but they were regurgitated
These are beautiful snakes from the central USA (Indiana, Kentucky)
They are an amazingly vibrant shade of green and are realy lovely snakes.
When they die they lose that Green and turn a dull blue beginning to decompose very rapidly, He had been dead less than 24 hours and had already begun to loose form around the head.
I realy enjoyed this animal, but dont belive I will seek out another in the near future. I am a prety decent keeper especialy when it comes to snakes, that being my most exspierienced area of herpetology and the Rough Greens are just so delicate.
I dont feel that there was much more that I could have done given the condition He was in when I got him. If you decide to Adopt one of these incredible animals you shoud be very exsperienced with snakes and make shure its healthy before you buy it. from everything I have read and now my own unfortunate loss if you dont get a healthy snake from the get go you dont have a chance. Do not underestimate the dificulty of care with this semingly simple looking little beauty. However the time spent on care is worth wile becouse these are realy interesting and stunning animals.
