Talking New spider

I picked up a second Rose hair the other day. It a cute sub-adult. it's body is less than 3 inches long and has the cutest litle legs! It is so much smaller than the Male rose hair I have. I am certain it is a mail now. I took a good look and it definatley has mating spurs. I am realy suprised he is still alive. I have had him for over 13 months and he is still going strong. If I understand corectly he is getting towards the far end of life exspectancy for a mature male. He is huge for a Rose Hair also. when he is laying out flat his total leg span is over 6 inches! incredible for a male from a species that 5.5" is large for a female. I hope my ney one is a female, cant tell yet. im not exsperienced enough to tell in a spider this size. It is still incredible how much smaller it is than my other one. It is going to trip me out the first time it moults! (is that spelled Moult or molt?)

Molt so far as I know. Congrats! Do the females live longer than the males? Maybe your male has been hanging on this long to get the chance to mate. Once that happens he can die happy.????

Females can live 15 to 20 years depending on species and care. Males usualy live a max of 4 to 5. once a male reaches maturity they usualy only live beween 2 weeks to a year, though 2 years is not unheard of.
