I have put the first thin coat of concrete on the water feature. I feel a little silly now as I was hesitant to start this. I am quite pleased with how it is already turning out! I had a little difficulty with the concrete wanting to stay on the uncut foam. I would suggest roughing up with a rasp or a grater, so the concrete has something to adhere to. It was a little late when I discovered this but I worked around this!

Hoping it won't take too long to dry as I am eager to second coat it with trial coloring. I will be going for a grey/blue slate look however dark grey/black wouldn't look bad either.

Just so no one thinks I've been slacking, here is an update.

Finished cementing the water feature and ledges. Covered them with epoxy resin and I have begun the silicon and coco fibre step. Quickly ran through two tubes this morning. So before I picked up the kids from school ran and got two more tubes to finish the job when it cools down in the garage tonight, it was over 100degrees in there this afternoon.

This has to be my favorite step so far and not nearly as messy as people have written about! It really feels as if I am nearing the end!

I will be placing both pieces in the tank tomorrow. I have loosened the cork from the GS and will silicon it into place in the tank adding some more GS where the cork meets the background and the glass then silicon and coco it up. I will not be adding a second waterfall/dripwall however, (thanks for the idea though, Meghan), as I have an 18x18x24 ExoTerra I picked up off of Craigslist and will be using my spare pump in that, I think.

This is getting addictive! Hoping to get this project done soon, then get to some fast paced Ebay sales for a week, then onto the Exo tank for my son who wants some Leucs, so I can have it set up before I go out of town for a week. Too bad I don't have the space for both this project and my photo studio in the garage, but DH insists on parking in the garage.

This is looking very very nice so far! Can't wait to see the finished product.
