Default Why u should not mix certin types of frogs

I just read about eight pages of info on why are frog populous has been declining rapidly for the past ten years. What made me look this up was I took my son to a creek that I grew up by to find bull frogs. I haven't been there in years to my surprise there was only like one tenth of the bull frogs there as I remember, And a hundred times the bugs.I kept Three of the in a separate tank than the rest of my frogs and toads for they eat anything that will fit in there mouths. Two died freakishly after a weak eating and everything there were nice and fat and would crock and croke all night. Well i sent one out to a lab so I could see if they were infected with something called Chytrid fungus nice ring to it hun. Basically this fungus eats the epadremis of all most all frogs out there except a hand full fogs and toads out there. Like African Clawed frogs 50% percent of the bull frog pop is immune the cain toad and few other types of frogs and toads. The problem with frogs is that they not only take in water though there skin but also like 30 to 40 percent of there O2 also. I just thought it was kind scarry that it dosen't kill the frog right off the bat it takes like three to four months before if will kill the frog so the frog can spread it to other frog pops, and its almost imposable to remove it from a river system once it's in it. Nice Hun There saying 2040 almost every single type of frog will be exinstinct if they don't find a cure. read up on it, It's called Chytrid Fungus one of the biggest carriers are willed chought African clawed frogs.

its starting to get some wide spread advertising too.

there was a large add and article in a recent reptile magazine, and I saw a commercial on either the discovery channel or animal planet.
Its actually why I have so many frogs in the first place, I work at a pet store, and people ask about releasing frogs they no longer want, i tell them not to, bring them to me.... "why not, I always did as a kid?"

one lady called about releasing a AWTF....a GTF or bullfrog or something that's native I can understand why people would make that connection....but it even has Australia in the name....*sigh*

luckily my petsore gives me the power to refuse a sale, so I remind peopel of responsible pet keeping, and urge them to return the frog or give it to someone who knows how to care for it if they ever decide to get rid of it

anyway, after 10 months of working at a petstore, i have 10 frogs...a blessing in my opinion
