Default New Paludarium for Fire Bellied Toads.

Just finished a new paludarium for my Fire Bellied Toads.

It's a 20L tank, with an added divider, separating the tank roughly 50/50. The water is filtered by a Tetra Whisper 10i. The substrate is a layer of large gravel with coconut fiber over it. The plants are currently silk, but will be changed out for live as I find what I like. The lighting is an 18" Zoo-Med Repti-Sun 2.0, and a 25 watt bulb over the basking area. The tank temp is holding from 70 (night) to 80 (day), with the humidity @80%.

Currently I have 4 FBT in it.

That looks great. How deep is the water? 5 inches?
Is the 25 watt bulb necessary for fire belly toads? As long as you keep the temps below 80 I think it will all be ok.
Congrats, the tank looks great!

Thank you.

The water's about 3-3/4 inches deep. Even with the 25 watt bulb for the basking spot, the high temp for the tank never goes above 80.

Heard an unfamiliar noise this afternoon. Traced it to the new paludarium. One of the toads was floating in the water and calling. I guess I can safely say he's a male, huh?

It wasn't very loud. I just happened to be sitting near the paludarium. What's even more amazing is that I came int his morning to find a pair of them amplexis.

I was amazed, considering that they've been in the new tank less than a week.
