Question New green tree frogs

I am new to the website and new to frogs, although i have every other pet you can have. I was wondering if silicone if safe to use to seal my water half of the tank. Will silicone hurt my green tree frogs is what im trying to ask.

After silicone is cured (roughly 24 hours) it should be safe, although you don't mention what kind you are using.

which kinds are safe for frogs that i could find a lowes or home depot?

When someone asks I usually say GE Type I. On the package it doesn't say "mold inhibitor" We've discussed the whole thing on this board and other members have had vivs built with GE Type II (Which does contain mold inhibitor) going for a substantial amount of time and they say they haven't noticed any negative reaction from thier animals.

Personally I still only use Type I. Type II will usually have something like "kitchen and bathroom" on the label. The original argument what that the silicone has some agent in it to stop mold that leaches out of the silicone into the closed system of the viv. The problem seems to be that not all colors are always available in Type I so some go with Type II. Most hardware stores should carry both types.
