well it has been a while since i have las posted due to my studies....all herp related of course. i am currently looking into getting some Mountain dragons Rankinia [Tympanocryptis] diemensis; and as with anything in herp world if you are going to get into it, learn about the little critters first.....but that will be a whole nother post when i get them.
i have since gotten and Exo Terra 18x18x24 terarium and am housing my southern brown tree frogs in it.
The Terrarium as it is out of the box (doors Closed)
Doors open
Progressive pics of the decorating:
Substrait floor (coco husk)
i bought two block of this stuff and it has done two vivs with PLENTY to spare
at this point i wasn't sure but i kept going.
i love this little piece of wood so i thought i would try somthing with it. it has a deep undercut at the back which the little guys love to hide in.
Water dish added. the water dish for these guys dose maultiple things, humidity being one of them but also as a source of water for them to soak up. i still spray the whole viv down with a spray bottle and hope to eventualy put in a sprinkler system.
Sorry there arn't to many pics of the build. i went and saw iron man 2 the same night i built this so it sort of all went together when i came back at around 11:30 PM.
So what you are seeing is some real branches from a tree in my front yard added and some vines in the back ground. The vines are actually from a craft store and are normally used for fake flower arrangements so they have wire in the stems. I cut them down to size and poked the back end of the wire though the foam back ground and hung them upside down.
not content with it as is i found some large chunks of moss at my work and bought them home and hade been keeping it for a couple of weeks. so i thought it was about time i used them. that along wwith some rocks around the water dish and it starts to look the part in my book.
Can you spot the frog in this one :-p
and as a final touch some leaf litter again from the front yard
the end resault. somthing thaat i am happy with and from what i can tell the little guys are as well.
i hope to make a small vid of them soon and with luck i shale get them cherping. i have 4 in there if any one was curiouse
when i get my mountain dragons i shale post some stuff up on those little guys. they are one of the most interesting specimens of the agamid genus for the Australia region so it could be fun.
