Default First Viv!

The tank,is a 40 long (48''L/12''W/16''D) aquarium (not a 5o like I thought but it was free so whatever :-) ) and ide liek to turn it into a desert viv for my leopard geckos...

the background and sides are going to be made using the styrofoam & grout or concrete technique and then painted over using acrylic paint. I would like to build the hides right into the panels to make them look better. For me to get into the hides i figuered before grouting cut and opening and insert magnets into the styrofoam... grout everything inside and out and if everything was lined up right the magnets should hold? and it should be strong enough to keep the geckos from opening it.

ide like to put the temp sensors (2 or 3... im not sure yet?) 1 on the hot side, should i put it on the floor/in the substrate? in the hot humid hide? the area around it? where should the second one be? cold floor? middle? top?
what kind of circulation would you recommend big fan little fan? where would you put it?

ide like most of the tank to be like a rock outcrop with minimal substrate (roaches burrow and this should limit that right? but at the same time I read the desert cleanup crew post and it perked my interest) and for that ide like to use crushed gravel or river stones.. not tiny though.

lights... the bane of my existence... what kind should I use? i want to put plants in the tank. I know the geckos don't need it, i like fluorescent, leds might work better but ive never used them to grow plants or even keep plants alive for that matter? are there special ones? will white work? blue? red? which one(s) will bring out the best colors in the geckos since there the focal point?
moon lights? what colors?

whatcha think? advise? tips? alterations? rethinks? things I missed?

I a bit too tired to get into anything detailed ATM, but I have to ask, what desert cleanup crew thread? Is this one I've missed? Or maybe forgotten about? Can you post a link in case I don't find it in a search?

::goes off to search for desert cleanup crew thread::

Desert Cleanup Crew? - Geckos Unlimited
was a neat idea, but I don't even know where to start with that one... but i always loved saltwater reef tanks and the cleanup crew.. shrimp and snails and all the little tiny stuff... havent ever seen one for a desert viv before.

I think a 2-bulb T5 would work for plants. any actinic bulb would probably work for moonlights.
